Watch me use the Grid Method to transfer my reference picture onto paper in this speed drawing!

The Grid Method is an easy way to break up your picture into manageable pieces. By dividing your paper and your image by the same number of squares, you can accurately transfer information from your picture onto your paper. Concentrate on drawing just the information from one square at a time, and then move onto the next square when you’re done. Although the grid does take some time to set up, you will save time in the long run because you will have a very precise drawing as your starting point for coloring in the next stage.

Software used in the tutorial:
Affinity Photo: https://affinity.store/en-us/
Please note that I am not affiliated with Affinity, but I have personally switched from Adobe’s $10 USD per-month subscription for Photoshop to Affinity’s flat $50 USD price for a license. Affinity has less features than Photoshop, but many of the functions are very similar. If you are a student or artist on a budget, I would highly recommend Affinity for your basic photo editing needs.
