I narrate you through my research and incremental implementation of a Monolithic Analog Closed Loop Feedback System for my BLDC Platter Motor. The final perfected feedback system will come standard with the Vinyl Record Cutting system I'll be selling soon called PLS-21. Until recently, I've been using a hall sensor, the magnet poles on my rotor (affixed under the platter), a small bit of circuitry, and a microcontroller with custom speed regulation code I created. This has worked ok. But, it just wasn't the stability that I wanted for cutting/embossing.

I decided to take a new approach. This required me to research exactly how all this is done in other systems. Specifically the Technics SL1200 Turntable. I literally gave myself an engineering crash course in Feedback Systems which is a fairly complex topic. But, as usual, I immerse myself, I identify the keywords, and I use those to follow the rabbit holes further. The data permutates and the relationships evolve in my brain. And, by the end, I start to understand all the things that were gibberish at the start.

In this video you'll see that progression. You'll see me incrementally tinker with two new forms of feedback, ultimately perfecting one. Then use that refined feedback in an analog operational amplifier processing chain which applies that feedback to a drive signal that is powering my motor. Why did I call this system PhotonicDrive?
