Rowing down the Queen of Polish Rivers, the River Wisła (Vistula) we, Steve Walker & Ewa Marcinkowska, arrive in the beautiful Royal (or is it Ducal?) city of Płock (pronounced Pwotsk) in our Nordic Explorer double sculling (rowing) boat. https://ahoy-boats.biz/nordic/
We're greeted by the legendary Captain Stanisław Fidelis who has dedicated his whole life to the river and has many stories to tell. Nestor of inland navigators on the Mazowiecka Wisła, Knight of the Cross of Pro Maria Nostro, Commander of the Cross of Pro Fluminibus Polonorum, recipient of the Pro Mazovia medal, awarded the commemorative medal "90th Anniversary of the Creation of the Polish Navy's River Flotilla". Capt. Stanisław is simply a human institution, a living book of the history of shipping on the Vistula.
So we have dedicated this whole episode to our interview with him where he talks and reveals secrets about the river that we're rowing down.
