Installing Micropiles at Jefferson Memorial
UMA was contracted to design and install 14 micropiles for the Jefferson Memorial project located in Washington, D.C. The micropiles consisted of a an unbonded casing length approximately 87.5 feet in depth and an additional 8 feet to be bond into a coastal plain formation, that is located approximately -80 to -90 feet below the Jefferson Memorial. The micropiles UMA installed consisted of a 7” O.D. 80-KSI casing that was drilled full length into the bearing substrate. In addition to the 14 micropiles, UMA installed one verification test that was tested in compression in accordance with ASTM D-1143.
