My ASL Story
This is a video of me telling you about my story. I’ll tell you how I learned ASL & why you should learn it too! Enjoy!!

Hi! My name is Cassie Street. My sign name is... (shows sign name).
I am 8 years old & I am in 2nd grade at Triad Elementary School in Ohio.
I started learning American Sign Language or ASL when I was 2 years old. When I was little, I couldn’t talk very well so my mom started to teach me signs. My mom found videos on Youtube and then when I got older I started to find videos about sign language myself, with moms help.
Then, in 1st grade, I met a boy. He was in my class. He is Deaf. His name is Carson Jackson. His sign name is... (shows sign name).
Carson has an interpreter & her name is Makenzie Miller. Her sign name and what we call her is Miss Miller (sign name). Miss Miller uses ASL to help Carson. I started learning really fast. I started to sign with Carson a lot.
Miss Miller started an ASL Club after school for Kindergarteners through 4th grade. I kept learning more and more signs so that I could communicate with my best friend, Carson.
When first grade was over I still wanted to learn more signs. So during the summertime I had private ASL lessons with Miss Miller.
Now I am in second grade with Carson. I stay after school every Tuesday with Miss Miller so that I can learn more signs about ASL and Deaf people.
This year I met Miss Miller’s friend. Her name was Angie. Her sign name is... (shows sign name.) Angie is Deaf but she is Blind too. I used tactile sign language in Angie’s hands. So that, that was so cool!
I learn new signs everyday. When I grow up I want to work as an interpreter just like Miss Miller.
I think all people should learn ASL because then you can learn to communicate and use ASL with Deaf people and people who are DeafBlind too!
