The pressure in the boiler drops, there is no leak: WHY, WHAT TO DO?
A drop in boiler pressure can be caused by either a coolant leak or a problem with the expansion tank. In both cases, it's an emergency 💥 and the cause must be immediately identified and fixed. Watch this video to learn why this happens and what to do.
👉 In addition to a problem with the expansion tank, a drop in pressure in the heating system can be caused by a coolant leak through the indirect heating boiler. In this case, the pressure drops only when hot water is used.
👉Most importantly, do not top up the coolant until you have accurately determined the cause. Do not allow the heating system to explode. _______________________
✅Here's an example calculation:
Heat carrier volume - 100 liters in the heating system
Pmax - 3 atm (maximum pressure in the heating system)
Pmin - 1 atm (pressure when cold)
Tank volume = 100 * 0.05 ((3 + 1) / (3 - 1)) * 1.25 = 12.5 liters.
Coefficient K = 0.05!!!
There's a very large difference between the maximum and minimum pressures in the calculation. In real life, your maximum pressure will be significantly lower. But for clarity of the formula, these numbers are more visual. _______________________
