This body has been good to me over the years, but she’s definitely not in her 20’s anymore. 🤪

Taking the time for targeted recovery is essential, and if we do it right, it can not only help us feel better, but actually get more out of our workouts.

There are a lot of recovery tools out there (I probably own most of them), but my personal favorite is a massage ball. I feel like it’s the best for hitting those tough to get to tight spots. 🎯

Next time you are performing myofascial release, keep these 4 tips in mind.

✔️Try rolling the glutes in the figure 4 position. It acts as a slight stretch and helps to prevent you from tensing the glute muscles against the release.

✔️Change the angle of the body part you are rolling. For example, we often roll straight up the back of our calves. Try rotating your foot sideways so you can roll down the inside or the outside.

✔️When you find an extra tight spot, leave the ball there and bend and straighten the joint closest to it. This works really well for your quadriceps. If rolling the calves, you can point and flex the foot.

✔️Don’t forget to breathe. When I am rolling out my hip flexors, holding the ball in a particularly tight spot and just taking deep breathes, can do wonders.

What is your favorite recovery tool and how do you make time to take care of your body? 💬👇🏼

I love this @mystorm meteor ball. It is bigger than most traditional massage balls and it also heats up and vibrates! I literally pack it in my suitcase when I go on vacation I love it so much.
