a love letter to parkrun 💌
Christmas Day 2021, my first ever parkrun. Scared & nervous, I asked my mum to join me. I’d been running regularly but 5km was still a real challenge for me. I’m not going to sit here and tell you I loved it, it was cold, tough going and painful but I knew there was something I liked about the feeling afterwards. So I went back… 🏃🏼♀️
And here we are (about 60 parkruns later) - many many of which have been at Chelmsford. Parkrun has been a constant for me over the past couple of years, in between races, events, stressful times at university and in my personal life - it’s always been there. 9am, Saturday morning, wherever I am in the country. So whilst the impressive race times and big goals are certainly worth celebrating - you bet I’m going to put on my tigger onesie and celebrate like it’s nobody’s business when Chelmsford parkrun turns 500 🥳 🎈
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to each and every person who has been a part of the community over the past ten and a bit years 🫶🏻
