Presumed Incompetent is inspired by the true story of a nonspeaking autistic teen who, for years, was believed to be cognitively impaired. Chance was misunderstood by doctors, teachers, and even those closest to him.
Unable to communicate, he was treated as if he couldn’t understand the world around him. But when a breakthrough method finally gives Chance a voice, a different truth emerges: one of intelligence, awareness, and a deep desire to be seen, heard, and included.
What unfolds is a powerful, emotional journey that exposes the consequences of assumption, and redefines what true inclusion really means.
