Anybody who knows Aaron DeFeo knows that Casino Del Sol in Tucson is more than a place to play slots and grab a beer. It's a place of fine cocktail mixology. And anybody who's been going to the Tucson Culinary Festival knows that one of the fathers of modern mixology, Tony Abou-Ganim, always plays a big role in that event. Put all of this together, and you've got the Tony Abou-Ganim Southwest Spirit Summit - an exciting inaugural event that took place at Casino Del Sol earlier this month.
Liquor brands set up shop on the tasting floor and sampled their products, while seminars took place in break out rooms throughout the three days. At night, it was all about bartender competitions, dinners, and parties. We caught up with Abou-Ganim as day three was getting underway (and our Woodford Reserve Double Barrel buzz was finally wearing off - that stuff's delicious!)
Listen to him chat about why mixology matters and why, apparently, it's time for somebody to finally serve Aaron DeFeo a drink. Congrats to everyone who made this event a success!
