Oxygen consumption is affected by depth. Above 100 meters, a player expends one unit of oxygen every second; at depths of 100 meters to 199 meters, a player loses two units of oxygen every second; and from 200 meters and deeper, a player loses three units of oxygen every second. A rebreather prevents this increased oxygen consumption, making it uniform at all depths.
