In this talk, first broadcast to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, we are joined by Alistair Noble and Stuart Hadaway from the RAF’s Air Historical Branch as they discuss legendary aircraft from the Battle of Britain Aircraft.
Broadcast on 16 September 2020 from the RAF Museum, London, in front of our Battle of Britain Fighter Four both Alistair and Stuart look at some of the iconic aircraft flew in the Battle of Britain, as well as some very notable failures.
Why did the Royal Air Force and the Luftwaffe fly the aircraft they did? Many were based on plans to fight a completely different Battle and met with disaster when they were thrust into combat conditions they were never meant to face. Others rose to the challenge and changed the course of history forever.
