[Diastratic or social variation / LINGUAL VARIATION]
With this new video, I will provide my students with all the information they need to understand the concepts of diastratic or social variation. People speak differently depending on various social factors, such as age, sex, or education. Based on this last, language is divided into three levels (vulgar, standard, and educated), among which one key concept stands out: vulgarism. Likewise, at the end of the lesson, I'll take the opportunity to introduce two basic concepts: slang, which I'll use as examples of professional and youth slang, and argot, which I'll use specifically as examples of drug slang and the world of drug addiction.
