Ukrainians find healing in mental health support amid war
Throughout the war in Ukraine, mental health professionals have reported an uptick in stress-related conditions among Ukrainians. The World Health Organization expects that nearly 10 million people in the country may have a mental health condition.
As part of FHI 360's 11 mobile medical units, psychologists travel to over 150 villages in six regions of the country to respond to the mental health needs of residents returning to their homes in previously occupied rural areas. They use modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, art therapy, talk therapy and mindfulness techniques to help people cope with anxiety and stress. FHI 360's mental health professionals have held over 15,500 counseling sessions and counting.
