The main character in the video is Mladen Tomic, a Croatian Paralympian, who played on the railway tracks as a child and lost his leg. Video is a message for children: don't play on railway tracks, railway tracks are not playground, traffic safety begins with you!
Today, Mladen is a successful Paralympian, an athlete who has participated in the Paralympic Games three times in the Men's Shot Put discipline. As an athlete, Mladen is a role model for children. That is why his statement about traffic safety has a strong positive effect on children. By participating in the video, Mladen made a significant contribution to educating children about traffic safety and raising awareness of the dangers of non-compliance with traffic rules.
This video is entirely amateur made with a minimal budget. It was designed and filmed by very enthusiastic high school students under the guidance of Professor Danijela Baric from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, within the project "Implementation of measures to improve the safety of the most vulnerable traffic participants at level crossings ". The project was part of the National programme of Road Traffic Safety of the Republic of Croatia 2011 – 2020 of the Croatian Ministry of the Interior.
