Robotic Arm Tool Changer - 9 minutes of swapping tools
Sorry for the lack of sound, I’ll be posting a more in depth walk though of the arm in a future video, but here’s some basics:
I built this arm for a science / engineering fair for my school, and my project is about the increase of mission capabilities with a tool changer, specifically for extraterrestrial missions such as the Mars rovers. I constructed the arm with five servos and some 2020 aluminum extrusions, and a lot of wire. The arm is currently only manually controlled, but I plan to code some automatic tool changing at a later point. I also plan to add some power couplings to the tool changer to power the tools, that way I can have electronics inside.
It’s a great proof of concept for the time being, and I plan to keep working on it in the future!
