Jamaica is a small island that has produced so many extraordinary people. In this documentary, we meet the amazing Imani Wilmot who uses the surfing sport as a way to empower black girls and women. She created a beautiful sisterhood in Jamaica through the vehicle of surfing.

These women show that surfing turns you away from the negativity and towards the horizon!

Black/Current is a space to provide both educational and entertaining content primarily by or about Black people. That’s Black Brits, Black Americans, Black Africans, Black Canadians, Black Australians and so forth.

This extraordinary documentary focuses on a group of Jamaican surfers as they talk about their lives, culture, racism, family and gender stereotypes. A great cinematic experience that tells a story worth listening to.

There is a really loud desire for diverse voices and stories and we want to be a part of that conversation.
