Make FLAC files the Easy Way
Making a collection of FLAC files of your album or single cd's is not as hard as it looks. You only need basically 3 programs. You need the Flac codec, Exact Audio Copy (for ripping) and Foobar2000 (for encoding). All the direct links are stated below:

FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec and works basically the same as ZIP and RAR does for normal files. With FLAC you can reach up to 40% file size reduction without loosing any quality. I would certainly recommend this if you have a high-end stereo system or any other Class A amplifier. Also use optical cables from your sound card to your amplifier if this is possible. On cheap audio systems you won't hear to difference between descent mp3 (at 192kbit) and FLAC files, so to do this is really for those audiophiles (hehe, that word I had some issues with just saying) who really want to retain the original quality of the cd. It is also very useful to backup your precious album collection.
