Hee-Sung Kim "On The Bench with Dr. Carol"
Organist Hee-Sung Kim, currently a professor at Ewha Womans University College of Music, graduated from Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and the Department of Instrumental Music and Graduate School at Yonsei University College of Music, and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Since returning to Korea in 1995, she has held over 20 solo recitals at the Grand Theater of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, making a significant contribution to introducing organ music to Korean classical music enthusiasts. Her performance programs feature not only the finest organ works spanning from the Baroque to the modern era but also bring her closer to audiences through new endeavors, such as collaborations with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic, and the Korean Chorus of Korea, as well as duets with vocals, piano, violin, percussion, and jazz, and performances incorporating contemporary dance and video. Since 2014, she has been planning the 'Pipe Organ Festival at Ewha,' moving the performance venue to Ewha's Kim Young-eui Hall to make another attempt to enhance the synergy between performance and education.
