Here's an advert for Texas Homecare which were eventually bought out by Sainsbury's Homebase in the late-90s. The original website homepage still exists but in 'fansite' form: http://www.texashomecare.co.uk/
Much like its rival 'WHSmith's Do It All', these places were immense warehouses of everything from paint to dado rails to patio furniture and even doorbells (which of course just trying them was a highlight as a kid!).
With B&Q now struggling, there's a decline in DIY nowadays, partly because nobody can be arsed or has the time to do things themselves any-more!
