Data modeling in Power BI is a crucial step when creating a report. And a better Power BI Data model translates into a better Power BI semantic model.

The data model is the foundation of every successful report. So the choices you make when it comes to data modeling in Power BI become even more important.

In this speed test, I have run a performance test for a flat file data model, a star schema data model, and a snowflake schema data model.

The datasets that I’ve used have 240k, 480k, 950k, and 4.75M rows, ensuring a whole range of sizes.
