In this episode of The Passion Project, we meet Josh Staunton, a former professional footballer, who shares how he discovered a new passion for grass care after being forced to retire due to a long-standing knee injury.
I find Josh’s story inspiring because football was his life from a young age. After undergoing knee surgery at just 9 years old, the effects of playing professionally took a toll, leading to the deterioration of his knee. A specialist advised him to retire in his late 20s. Faced with the difficult decision to step away from the game, Josh embraced grass care—a passion that gave him a new purpose beyond football.
Filmmaking has been my passion for the last 20 years, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. However, as a recent dad of twins, it has become increasingly challenging to pursue. This episode was particularly special as it brought me back to my hometown of Yeovil, where Josh’s football career came to an end.
