Doc Justice Deposes HPD Lt. Jorge Cruz
I deposed Lieutenant Jorge Cruz today in relation to Homestead Police Department (HPD) illegally withholding public records.
Lt. Cruz was the supervisor on the traffic unit for HPD when the accident occurred last year killing three teenagers.
It seems that Lt. Cruz was one of the few good guys working this case, and rumor has it that he was transferred for simply doing his job.
Lt. Cruz had pulled the black box data from the crashed vehicle, as any good traffic investigator would have done.
However, this data exposed Sergeant Ryan Khawly for falsifying official records, which is a felony, to cover the fact that it was his unlawful high-speed pursuit which precipitated the crash killing three kids.
Rumor has it that when Captain Yanko Rodriguez, who is over the traffic unit and direct supervisor to Lt. Cruz, found out that Lt. Cruz had ran the black box, he “blew his top” and had Lt. Cruz transferred to work uniform patrol on the midnight shift in retaliation.
How hard Zeskind objected to my questions on this point, simply answered them for me. This is really not looking good folks.
Now if you remember Captain Rodriguez and Sgt. Khalwy are brother-in-laws. And now you understand why nepotism is such a bad thing, and why state law and Homestead policy forbid it.
The question now is how involved in this criminal cover-up is Captain Rodriguez and other members of the HPD brass, such as Captain Fernando Morales?
Don't forget that Captain Morales is involved here, and he is also the head of Internal Affairs (IA), but no IA investigation has been done by HPD IA related to Sgt. Khawly’s failure to follow policy and the tragic result, or the illegal cover-up afterwards.
