In this video, we will rank and explore David Lynch's 10 greatest movies. Probably the most well-known avant garde filmmaker in the world today, David Lynch has earned a reputation over the decades for creating beautiful but often highly challenging works of art, works of art which often delve into the darker side of reality and which forces viewers to try and parse through them in order to find their own interpretations of what’s going on.
That was certainly the case for his debut film Eraserhead, a midnight movie surrealist classic. And it was also the case for future films of his like Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, and Mulholland Drive. That said, it’s not all abstractions with David Lynch. No, on occasion he has told a more straightforward narrative tale which mass audiences can appreciate too, with this being evident in his films The Elephant Man, Dune, and The Straight Story.
Perhaps more than anything else though, what he’ll be best remembered for is being the creator of Twin Peaks, one of the most highly regarded television shows of all time, and one which became a complete cultural phenomenon when it first aired back in 1990. So much of a phenomenon would it be in fact, it would spawn not only a movie prequel named Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, also directed by Lynch. But it would also get a fully-fledged revival in 2017 named Twin Peaks: The Return, with this second series proving to be just as gripping and bewildering as the first one.
