Hi everyone, in this video I go out and pay a visit to the Bournemouth Velodrome on the Dawes Giro 200 road bike.
Initially I was greeted by one the British Cycle Team coaches who was in the middle of giving a training session so I had to hold back and wait until that was finished.
I was amazed at how steep the banks are at each end, pretty much close to a 45 degree angle. The cycling coach advised me that as I didn't have a "track bike", it would be wise not to go on them as my pedals would bottom out on the track and cause a crash!
Anyhow, it was a very enjoyable experience, on nice sunny Dorset day!
The Bournemouth Airshow was also on at the time of filming, so I managed to get a shot of a Chinook going past.
I honestly don't think that track cycling is for me, but it was nice to see an olympic size 250 metre outdoor velodrome, also to know the when it isn't time-tabled for training sessions, you can use it for free!
There are "taster sessions" that only cost a few British Pounds, and you can find more information on these and track timetable at the following link: https://www.activedorset.org/velodrome
Big thanks to Phil for being cameraman too! 👍
