Hey wussup Y’all, Welcome back to the Dyzee Diaries Bboy Vlog. As many people know R16 “WAS” one of Bboyin’s largest, world championship events which took place in South Korea. This event created many of today’s superstars, and legendary battles. Till today, Jinjo VS Massive Monkees is still the most watched battle in all of Bboy history with now 46 million views!? WHY THE HECK IS IT 46 MILLION VIEWS??? THIS BATTLE IS EVEN OVER 13 MINUTES LONG! IS IT BECAUSE BOTH CREWS ARE SEXY AS HECK? IS IT BECAUSE THERE ARE 46 MILLION BREAKIN ENTHUSIASTS? OR IS IT BECAUSE BOTH CREWS STUDIED THE R16 JUDGING SYSTEM AND KNEW WHAT EACH JUDGE WAS LOOKING AT, WHICH MEANT THEY HAD TO TRY AND WIN EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF BREAKIN?????
R16 was also the first event to ever launch a judging system, called the OUR system.
In 2015, for the 10th anniversary of R16, the Korean government pulled the plug on funding for R16, THUS we decided to bring the world finals to Taiwan, but because of legality, under a different name, “Respect Culture”
In 2016, due to the uncertainty of a world finals event, the R16 Global Series came to an end, just like my job as the R16 Global Series producer.
A lot of people asked me why I never continued pursuing the OUR system, bringing it to different events.
Well the truth is:
#1 The OUR System already did it’s job. I proved that a criteria based judging system, could bridge the gap between the general audience, and the Breakers. The audience not only gets an education about the 5 different perspectives of Bboyin, but the OUR system also builds that suspense.
And now pretty much everyone knows about the OUR system. I don’t have to promote it any further.
So that means it’s time for me to move on to phase 2, which is “The Plan”
The 2nd reason why I’m not trying to bring OUR system to different events, is because, The OUR System wasn’t created for “tournaments” in the first place. It’s created for judging a REAL battle, which isn’t usually timed or limited by a set number of rounds. Real battles, are to the finish, and only between two crews.
With that said, I’m concentrating all my time and focus into “The Plan”
HOWEVER, I’m pleased to announce that the R16 World Finals, is coming back this December 2018, in TAIWANNNNNN. So get ready, and if you know any organizers interested to bring R16 to your city, please have them contact myself or Choco of mzk Taiwan.
With that said, the first R16 qulifier took place last December in China. It was pretty nostalgic for me to go travel once again for an R16 Qualifier event. R16 events are different from other events as we have standards in terms of the production, the judging and the flow of the event. Almost every Bboy loves to travel to unknown cities, to see weird things. Ofcourse we love to try new foods and experiences as well.
R16 Yunan was a great start to the first qualifier for the R16 Global series, looking forward to sharing my knowledge, and spreading the mission of the R16 Global Series, which is to prepare the way for the next level of Bboyin culture through “THE PLAN”
