Karolina and Michał's new DREAM HOUSE – simple yet spacious! They have a TERRACE just like in Italy!
Karolina and Michał designed their new, old DREAM HOUSE THEMSELVES on a small plot. It's small and energy-efficient, yet the interior of the 120m² house captivates with its spaciousness and vintage feel! To save on construction costs, the house with an attic was designed by combining two simple shapes and eliminating the garage. It's not only energy-efficient but also practical for a family! The high-ceilinged living room with kitchen and dining room are spacious, while the two bedrooms are compact. The ground-floor bathroom managed to conceal the laundry room, and the 4m² bathroom in the attic accommodates a second shower! A storage solution in the vestibule is concealing a wardrobe behind mirrored fronts. We also access the travertine terrace. The residents explain why they chose a polycarbonate terrace roof.

Come inside! The simple house has a beautiful blue door. Old brick on the facade, family heirlooms, and patterned tiles and French doors in the hallway – all of this is evident from the moment you enter. Next, we're presented with a cozy living room and kitchen, where Michał crafted the oak beams himself with the help of his family. They perfectly complement the hardwood flooring. By renovating old furniture, the residents saved a significant amount of money on furnishing the house. We see how they look next to a modern modular sofa. We also take a look at a budget-friendly kitchen from a chain store, which, thanks to vintage-style accessories, has gained a unique style!
On the ground floor, the characters open the door to their bedroom after a makeover – featuring original wall decorations and furniture from their grandparents. There's also a clever bathroom design, combining a bathtub and shower, and a cleverly hidden laundry room.
In the attic, we show our son's room and the design of a small 4m² bathroom, where sewing machine legs serve as the frame for the sink cabinet, and a gold-framed mirror adds a touch of sparkle. Throughout the house, decorations and gems found at flea markets evoke fond memories of the good old days.
A pleasant summer in the garden also means old, tried-and-true methods of keeping the cold at bay. We answer the question why having a dugout in the garden is worth it!
HOUSE BUILDING GUIDE:
What construction technique did the characters choose? The brick house was built of silicate. The walls are double-walled and insulated with graphite polystyrene. The attic has a 30 cm layer of mineral wool, which keeps heating costs relatively low. The house also has windows dedicated to a passive house with warm installation.
