The Mummy - an Epic Motion Picture from Bob Benner’s The Art of Man Class - 1973 Northport High School, Northport, New York.

There are so many gifted people who contributed to the making of this Super 8 mm film - and for now, you can find them all listed at the end of the film in the credits. Should I list them here as well? Let me know.

Basically, while studying art history and specifically the art of ancient Egypt, Russell says - or asks - “Why don’t we make a Mummy movie?” And we did - for many wonderful months - right up to our red carpeted, limousined, sell-out opening night! That’s what I remember anyway - and now, fortunately and hopefully dozens of people in the Youtube/Facebook community are going to add to the needed telling of the making of this 40+ year old film.

Should I post the outtakes?

The names of the students are listed at the end of the film. The central most student here is played by the late, great Bob Flanagan who later went on the work with Jim Henson and had his own illustrious career making countless brilliant puppets, props and costumes for Saturday Night Live, and for many Broadway productions and more. He is surely missed.

Missed too, Russell Swezey.

You can also watch Bob play a central role in The Arrows, a short film by Nick Maravell and Doris Rowe. Made in 1972 at the zNorthport High School, Northport, New York.
