This video doesn't meet our modest quality standards. I had recently purchased a light weight Specialized helmet and then shot these trails with a helmet camera. The helmet didn't support the camera well. Sorry about the jerky video. I published it anyway in 2014 in case someone is interested.

Sovereign is one of the original Moab trails for mountain biking. It was created by dirt bikers and is used by ATVs and dirt bikes now. With so many wonderful new MTB only trails this one is no longer a popular MTB trail. However, it is a good ride if you are looking for something you haven't rode before.

The whole loop is 10.5 miles but we took one of the many cutoff trails and show parts of our 7.5 mile trip with special attention to the tread. Both Salt Wash and Sovereign are great for intermediates with only a few hike-the-bike sections in each trail. The loop can be done in either direction. For this video we went up Salt Wash and down Sovereign.

The trails are a combination of fast flow trail, slick rock, and plenty of challenging rock "features" to test your skills. We were able to bike all of the sand and a lot of the rocks. Unfortunately my camera wasn't on when I went OTH near the bottom of Sovereign. I was on my old 110 mm XC bike and it didn't handle the rocks well.
