In today's video, we delve into the world of AI and its ability to make ethical decisions. We talk about the classic Trolley Problem as well as real-world applications like self-driving cars. We explore how AI systems like GPT-4 and autonomous vehicles process critical situations. Do they operate solely on cold logic, or is there room for moral reasoning?
We cover the 4 steps AI models may use when making an ethical decision. There is a big difference between a human being and AI making a decision. Humans use emotions that AI models simply do not have. We run through an example of what an autonomous driving vehicle would do if it were surrounded my traffic and an unexpected pedestrian is in the road just 30 feet ahead. We look at the Tesla's moral and ethical decision making in this high intensity situation.
