HOW TO MAKE DIY EXPRESSION PEDAL FROM $20 to LIKE Boss FV 500H FOR $150 FOR BOSS KATANA AND OTHER
In today's video we will make an expression pedal for BOSS KATANA and in general any BOSS / ROLAND processor, from a cheap pedal bought for $20 on AliExpress
If you don't know, then you can turn a passive volume pedal into an expression pedal by simply connecting the input and output with a MONO JACK MONO JACK to STEREO JACK cable, this works with almost any guitar effects processor, synthesizers, etc.
But this does not work with BOSS / ROLAND guitar effects processors, since they have both an expression pedal input and a footswitch input on the same connector. Therefore, BOSS and Roland volume pedals are different from the usual ones and must be purchased separately.
This applies to BOSS EV-30, FV-500H/-500L, FV-30L, FV-50H/-50L, FV-30H and Roland EV-5 pedals.
The operation algorithm of the expression pedal differs from the usual one in that for a standard pedal, the resistance varies in the range from 0 kOhm to 250 kOhm, for BOSS / ROLAND expression pedals, the pedal resistance varies in the range from 0 kOhm to 10 kOhm.
And in this video, I will replace the volume pedal from Aliexpress with a variable resistor that will match the original BOSS pedal.
The expression pedal on the BOSS KATANA 100 MK2 guitar combo amplifier works similarly to other combo amplifiers in the BOSS series: 50, 50MK2, 100, 100MK2, ARTIST, HEAD, BASS, etc. Also on BOSS GT100, GT001, GX-100, GT-1000CORE, GT-1000, GT-1, MS-3 guitar effects processors
