This video illustrates a number of scenarios of turning right at traffic lights. In most of the cases there is no filter arrow to assist with safely completing the turn. Because this is one of the more dangerous aspects of driving, the assessors will endeavour to get you to turn across traffic at traffic lights without an arrow in your road test to ensure that you can perform the manoeuvre safely and legally. If you are the first car in line and are waiting to turn without an arrow on a green light, you must wait in the intersection with your car and front wheels reasonably straight until it's safe to proceed around the corner, however remember that in most cases the vehicles coming from the opposite direction to you will have the same colour traffic light, and when your light changes to amber or red, so will theirs! Remember, if you are outside of the Western Australian jurisdiction, check your local legislation and driving test assessment criteria.
