Texas Western downed Kansas University 81-80 in a thrilling double-overtime finish here Saturday night to win the championship of the NCAA Mid-West Region and earn the right to compete in the national championship tournament Friday and Saturday at College Park, Md.
The ball went through the hoop and time ran out, but the official ruled that White’s jump shot had been from out of bounds, leaving the contest tied, and sending the game into the second overtime period.
