This collaborative short film between Nikiforos Fintzos and Maria Koutsou called “one” tells the story of an everyday girl and her other self from another dimension who is immortal. Two girls, same face, same habits, same way of thinking and one rule-breaking difference. A solid body that is cut in half and each side each girl has another name; Ego and Time. The Ego represents the everyday human, a self-centred sun of the universe, while Time is another name for man’s greatest fear; death.
Notions like solitude and madness find themselves wondering in the relationship of the two women but the actual tragedy lays in the irony that while the hero considers herself being restricted by her limited time, her alter ego feels captured by the endless course of life. What if everything is on her mind? And here I found myself asking again; why being on her mind means automatically that it is not true?
