General practice and family medicine are facing challenges from changes in the content and practice of medicine and in the organization of care, yet many family doctors continue to thrive in their profession. How do they do it? Systemic medicine, genomics, artificial intelligence, and electronic health management tools are some of the challenges and opportunities that we need to address in order to continue to provide high quality personalised care to our patients.
In this course, we will present a description of these new trends and explore how they may affect family medicine. We will also show how the traditional values of family medicine can be preserved in this Brave New World to allow family doctors to continue to derive a high degree of satisfaction and personal growth in their work.
We will explore ways to present this topic to medical students and trainees.
