Backpacking Black Elk Wilderness Part 2: Why This 2-Day Trip is Ideal for Beginners
South Dakota's Black Hills is home to the Black Elk Wilderness Area and is a perfect place for a multi-day fall backpacking trip - not too challenging with great views! This is day 2 of a 2-day trip. We begin just a couple miles before Mount Rushmore and finish our loop back to Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park, stopping at Mount Rushmore and then taking on Elkhorn Mountain and Blck Elk Peak.
