Rare Disease Day 2023 Col6 Community FB version
Collagen VI muscular dystrophy is one of hundreds of different muscle diseases. It is caused by mutations in the genes: Col6A1, Col6A2, Col6A3 and Col12A1.
The disease shows a very broad spectrum of symptoms, from rather mildly affected (Bethlem type) to severe courses (Ullrich type), as well as a so-called intermediate type, which can show symptoms of both types.
In Germany, a collagen VI community is currently organising itself to raise awareness, but also to help itself with advice and support.

Die Kollagen-VI Muskeldystrophie ist eine der Hunderten verschiedenen Muskelerkrankungen. Ursächlich sind Mutationen in den Genen: Col6A1, Col6A2, Col6A3 und Col12A1.
Die Erkrankung zeigt ein sehr breites Spektrum an Symptomen, von eher milde betroffen (Typ Bethlem) bis zu schweren Verläufen (Typ Ullrich), sowie einen sogenannten intermediären Typ, der Symptome beider Typen aufweisen kann.
In Deutschland organisiert sich gerade eine Kollagen-VI Community um für mehr Aufmerksamkeit zu erzielen, aber auch um sich selbst durch Rat und Tat zu helfen.
