In this video you'll learn how to repair common bumper damage using the BumperWizard repair kit.
6 ounces of color-matched paint, an aerosol sprayer, clearcoat, primer, microfiber towel, coarse sandpaper, foam sanding pad, fine sandpaper, scratch filling putty rubber spreader, tack rag, scuff pad.
Mask off the repair are with masking tape, newspaper, or butcher paper.
Clean thoroughly with wax and grease remover.
Sand out the damage using coarse sandpaper and firm hand pressure.
Wrapping sandpaper around the included foam block can reduce hand fatigue.
Wipe away dust with the included microfiber towel.
You can stop sanding when you see an inch of bare plastic in all the areas where the original damage was.
Now cut you scuff pad in half, and with firm pressure scuff 14 inches in every direction from the damage.
If you're working on the corner of your bumper, I suggest you scuff all he way to the bumpers edge.
Wipe away dust with your green towel.
Look for any remaining cuts or scratches that didn't sand out completely, and fill them in with the supplied red putty and rubber spreader.
Sand the putty flat with coarse sandpaper and firm pressure.
Shake the can for about 60 seconds, then apply light coats until you can't see bare black plastic anymore.
Lightly sand with fine grit sandpaper.
Wipe away dust with your green towel.
Shake your paint bottle a little bit, and insert the aerosol sprayer and thread tight. Open up your tack rag, wad it into a small ball, and with fine pressure remove dust from your bumper.
Apply the paint in very light coats from a distance of about 10 inches.
Remove any fine dust with tack rag.
Remove the spray unit and wipe the straw clean. Push the trigger a few times to clear the nozzle.
Shake your can of clearcoat for about 60 seconds and apply one light coat.
Now apply one thick layer of clearcoat. Notice how much more slowly my hand moves with each pass.
In about 45 minutes we have la like new bumper again. We didn't have to pay a body shop, we didn't have to lose our car for a day or two.
Wait about 30 minutes before washing your car, and five days before applying car wax.
