Newport Beach city officials are cracking down on homeless encampments following complaints from residents and local business owners. Locals said homeless individuals are constantly seen gathering at popular tourist areas including the Newport Beach Pier.
On Tuesday, city officials voted unanimously to bolster anti-camping laws including prohibiting anyone from sleeping in public areas and streets.
