Seabird Island Students & the Trades Discovery Program
The 2022 grad class of Seabird Island Community School – Lalme' Iwesawtexw, closed out their final year of school with a snap, crackle and pop! Given the option to try the Trades Discovery Program and the Explore Trades Sampler at UFV as part of their last term of Grade 12, nearly the whole class decided to jump in with both feet!
This program is a unique opportunity to explore a variety of trades—including Automotive, Drafting, Electrical, Heavy Mechanical, Carpentry, Welding, and Plumbing and Piping—and to acquire basic skills that will prove fundamental if you decide to become a tradesperson. At the end of the program, you are certified in Forklift Truck, First Aid, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), and you are ready to enter trade foundation training or seek an apprenticeship in the trade of your choice.
