Himmler Wanted Speer To Dissapear!
Albert Speer was Hitler's former architect turned Reich Minister of Armaments and War Production, a position appointed upon him by Hitler himself. He used his new position to reform the Armaments Industry, achieving an armaments miracle which saw massive gains in production numbers.
Speers efforts saw him become one of the most prominent players of the Third Reich during the second world war. According to his own autobiography 'Inside The Third Reich' he may have become a little too prominent for the likes of Reichsführer-SS, Heinrich Himmler.
Having grown the SS (Schutzstaffel) from Hitlers personal bodyguard, consisting of a mere 290 men in 1929 to an elite paramilitary and administrative branch of the Nazi Party consisting of over 800,000 members, Himmler’s ambitions, and cruelty, knew no bounds.
Was Albert Speer in the way of further SS expansionism? Did Himmler need Speer out of the way in order to create an SS empire that he had been working towards for years? Was Himmler cold blooded and ruthless enough to try and wipe out one of Hitler's most trusted associates?
