Back Story:
Hold On was inspired by an asylum seeker I interviewed en route to the UK when I worked for a human rights charity. It's about the incredible strength & resilience displayed by so many, in spite of the atrocities they have to overcome, in order to find refuge. I hope Hold On helps raise awareness (& compassion without discrimination) for everyone fleeing conflict the world over.
This is a new sound for me (chillhop) so can’t wait to hear what you think. Plus a subject matter that is really close to my heart. Hope you connect with it.
Bio:
Emma Saville is an evocative British singer/songwriter based between London & Sheffield, UK. She has performed across the UK, & in Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Australia & New Zealand. Emma's best known for her single 'Be as One' produced by MinusBlue, which is on over 200 compilations worldwide. Through her music, Emma wants to articulate emotions that cannot be expressed by words alone. Her music has been streamed millions of times in 143 countries, & Emma's distinctive voice is still finding new fans.
Having relaunched as an independent artist in Dec 2020, Emma recently released her much-anticipated, debut solo album. Her “soulful, R&B power ballads” & "hiphop-soul fusion" tracks have received positive international acclaim, having been featured multiple times on BBC Radio Sheffield. Emma writes empowering songs about love, loss & overcoming life’s obstacles. Her sultry music is a rich blend of soul, hiphop & R&B, with folk/Latin influences. Emma's voice has been described as "breathtakingly beautiful & powerful with an impressive range", & compared to that of Sade & Freya Riding.
As well as her Greek/Italian roots, Emma lived in Latin America for 4 years and so speaks/sings excellent Spanish/Portuguese. She plays the ukulele, piano, guitar & clarinet. Emma has worked with a variety of musicians/producers throughout the UK & internationally.
