What went wrong with the Alien Smoothing
====================================
I had overlooked that the Greylien has a SubDiv setting of 2 out of the box, and had my smoothing modifier iterations/collisions set too high. As I enabled smoothing, DAZ Studio had to calculate so many vertices that it appeared to crash. I should have set his resolution to base and lower the iterations/collisions on his clothing. Shame I didn't catch this in time!
The takeaway is: these things happen to the best of us 😄
