Seventy-eight years ago, Nazi Germany occupied Poland and the Polish Home Army was fighting an unsuccessful battle to liberate Warsaw and established sovereignty for Poland ahead of an impending invasion by the Soviet Army.

Stalin refused to allow Allied planes to land on Soviet airfields and prohibited American bombers from landing at the Poltava air base in Ukraine to provide supplies to Warsaw. As a result, the retreating German Army destroyed the city.

After the war, people from around the world donated funds to restore the old city of Warsaw since no money was available from the Marshall Plan for countries behind the Iron Curtain.

Ukraine is fighting today for its sovereignty and Russian tanks are destroying its cities. Is the world going to abandon Ukraine like it did Poland seventy-eight years ago?
