In the recent lecture of our System Design Workshop, we delved into the intricacies of Application Performance, with a particular focus on Scalability. We explored two primary scaling approaches: Horizontal Scaling and Vertical Scaling. Horizontal Scaling involves adding more machines to distribute the workload, while Vertical Scaling involves upgrading existing hardware resources.
To illustrate the significance of scalability, consider the Education Board Bangladesh application. While it functions smoothly throughout the year, a surge in traffic during result announcements often leads to website crashes. Scalability techniques can effectively address such scenarios.
