Save a considerable amount of time when formatting charts by using chart templates with your favorite formatting in Microsoft Excel. For pivot charts you can transfer the formatting from an old chart to a new one by copying the old chart, selecting the new one and pasting. For regular charts just copy the old chart, select the new chart without the proper formatting, then under the Home tab, Clipboard, Paste select Paste Special to open the Paste Special Dialog Box and select "Formats". This will transfer the correct formatting to the new chart. Please note, that the old and new charts must have the same number of series, otherwise only a part of the formatting will get transferred.
For both chart types the old chart can be saved as a template and used next time to create a new chart.
