This song is based on the book of Job in the Bible. The story of Job, in summary, is this: he was a very rich and powerful man, and also God-fearing. The Devil went to Heaven and said to God that Job was only God-fearing because he was rich, he had everything, and the Devil asked permission to take everything that Job had and prove that he would thus blaspheme. God allowed the Devil to take everything from Job, money, property, children, marriage, and that's what happened. Job lost everything, even his health, but he did not blaspheme; on the contrary, he continued to honor and respect God. The Devil lost the bet, and, in the end, Job received twice what he had.
Esta música é baseada no livro de Jó da Bíblia. A história de Jó, em resumo, é esta: ele era um homem muito rico e poderoso, e também temente a Deus. O Diabo foi para o Céu e disse a Deus que Jó só era temente a Deus, porque era rico, tinha tudo, e o Diabo pediu permissão para tirar tudo que Jó tinha e provar que ele assim blasfemaria. Deus permitiu que o diabo tirasse tudo de Jó, dinheiro, propriedades, filhos, casamento, e foi o que aconteceu. Jó perdeu tudo, até a saúde, mas não blasfemou; pelo contrário, ele continuou a honrar e respeitar a Deus. O Diabo perdeu a aposta e, no final, Jó recebeu o dobro do que tinha.
