On July 4, 1922, Enrico Fermi, a young Roman, a brilliant and precocious physics student, graduated from the Royal University of Pisa under Professor Luigi Puccianti, defending an experimental thesis on X-ray diffraction.
A few days later, on July 7, he received his habilitation from the Scuola Normale Superiore and began a career so rapid, filled with new ideas and discoveries, that it would lead him to win the Nobel Prize in 1938, at just 37 years old.
