I swear that the video isn't fast-forwarded at all; my opponent really does talk, play, and move his hands that quickly. Given that he's playing a control deck that he just picked up recently, I'm all the more impressed that he can keep up with himself, although it may have caused him to make a few misplays.
That Rain of Tears, though.
Not hitting the Academy Ruins was short-sighted. Keeping him from getting the lock should have been my priority instead. The first time, we both forgot about the Expedition Map. The second time around, I should have known better, and that mistake sealed my fate.
Althought I don't remember with certainty, here is what I think the mainboard that I was playing at the time looked like.
Artifacts (3)
3 Runechanter’s Pike
Creatures (8)
4 Phyrexian Crusader
4 Phyrexian Vatmother
Instants (14)
4 Devour Flesh
2 Disfigure
4 Funeral Charm
4 Go for the Throat
Sorceries (13)
4 Inquisition of Kozilek
1 Raven’s Crime
4 Sign in Blood (should have been Night’s Whisper)
4 Thoughtseize
Lands (22)
4 Inkmoth Nexus
17 Swamp
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Sideboard (15) (I am least certain of this, but I think that this was it)
4 Geth's Verdict
3 Nihil Spellbomb
4 Plague Stinger
2 Rain of Tears
2 Surgical Extraction
