The Book That Changed My Life Forever
Hey everyone! I've got some time to kill before my next real estate investment meeting, so I thought it'd be perfect for an episode of Alex's Book Club! 🎉 (Working title… might not stick, haha!)
How "You2" Changed My Life:
Life's been a bit of a rollercoaster lately-won't bore you with the details here. This channel is all about real estate, but also whatever else I feel like sharing. So, the other day I was reminiscing about when I first got my real estate license. I attended a Tom Ferry Convention-if you're in real estate, you know who he is. For those who don't, he's a big-time real estate coach.
At one of his conventions, Tom read a passage from "You Squared" by Price Pritchett, and it stuck with me for years. I recently bought the book to re-read it, and wow, it's even more relevant now than I remembered.
A Powerful Lesson from the Book:
"The fly's strategy is to try harder, but it's not working. The fly continues to hit the glass, even though it will never escape, when there's an open door just a few feet away. Pritchett writes, 'Ironically, the struggle is part of the trap' and 'It is impossible for the fly to try hard enough to succeed at breaking through the glass.'"
Funny story-I initially searched for "You Two" on Amazon and got U2 merch instead. The book is actually called "You Squared," and you can finish it in about 20 minutes. Highly recommend it!
Why This Matters:
Taking new approaches is why I'm here. I used to laugh at conferences and real estate events, being a lone wolf and all. But if you want to go far, go as a team. I talked about this in my real estate in Switzerland video.
